She is doing great. She is a happy baby and we love her.
She got her first tooth just the other day. I didn’t even
know she was teething.
She is starting to sit up for longer periods of time, but
isn’t a full sitter yet. Her growth has slowed, so I ended up with a small baby
after all. After she was born 1 ½ lbs bigger than Jack I thought she would
always be on the bigger side, but she was stuck in the 12 lb range for several
months.
She and Jack now share a room, and they are doing pretty
well with it. Jack didn’t want her to sleep in his room but after we made him
let her, he now prefers it.
I love sleeping babies. I was having a really hard time
getting her to nap for longer than 40 minutes at a time, and I have high
expectations when it comes to sleep, so I knew she could do better. When I put
her on her stomach she sleeps for 3+ hours at a time. Usually I’m waking her up
because she’s been down too long and needs to eat. Luckily she has never had a
problem staying asleep at night on her back.
Juliet was born with a tongue tie, which made it hard for me
or any of the nurses to get her to latch in the hospital. The lactation specialist
got her to latch on the first try. I now have a lot more respect for those
specialists! Even though we got her to eat fine, we ended up getting her tongue
clipped because we didn’t want her speech affected in the future. She took the
procedure like a champ, and can now move around her tongue more.
She is a thumb sucker! Jack never was, I think it is
adorable. Many people say that I need to get her on a pacifier, or break her of
the habit, or they tell me she’ll have braces, but I don’t really care. I’m
fine with it and think it’s great that she can calm herself down without us
needing to do anything. Once she’s older we’ll worry about stopping the habit.
We went on a lot of walks soon after she was born (and
before to try and get her to come), she has been pretty much living in this
suit.
She loves her brother and Jack likes playing with her,
although ‘playing’ is what he calls covering her head with blankets or laundry
if she’s laying on the floor, or throwing dirt on her outside. “I threw dirt on
Juliet!” Great. Thanks.
The kids and I were laying outside on our grass (that itself
is a huge accomplishment to me, I’ve tried so hard to achieve a good lawn, and
laying on it for the first time was pretty great) and I had to go inside and
get the camera and came back to this.
I also think thumb sucking is cute. I'm still hoping Sydney will. Gotta love how the big brother takes care of his little sister.
ReplyDeleteSuch darling kids. She looks so much like Jack in the picture of them on his bed. And your grass looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteThumb sucking is great! People are so silly with their comments.
